Our Church History
It was in the mid-1930’s that a handful of individuals began meeting in the old Grange hall at the end of Slater Street on Lake Washington. As the congregation increased, it was decided to purchase the hall and thus the KirklandSeventh-dayAdventistChurch had a building of its own. During the Second World War, the Lake Washington Shipyard (now the site of Carillon Point) brought tremendous growth to Kirkland’s population. Outgrowing its facility, the congregation secured property no longer needed by the Shipyard and built a new church on NE 52nd Street. A church school was begun in the basement of the chapel – the genesis of the KirklandSDASchool and Puget SoundAdventistAcademy. As its numbers grew, the congregation determined to construct a facility more suited to its needs. Through much personal sacrifice, the present building was completed in 1970. The later addition of the Fellowship Hall and CommunityServiceCenter in 1986 was indicative of the broad vision of the membership. Through worship, study, fellowship and mission, the desire of the congregation has also been to service church members and neighbors, and to do all to the glory of God.
Our Mission
The mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is to communicate to all peoples the everlasting gospel of God's love in the context of the three angels' messages of Revelation 14:6-12, and as revealed in the life, death, resurrection, and high priestly ministry of Jesus Christ, leading them to accept Jesus as personal Saviour and Lord and to unite with His remnant church; and to nurture believers as disciples in preparation for His soon return.
The *name of church* is part of a world-wide organization with more than 15 million members in countries around the world. We would be happy to have you join us in worship or at one of the church events listed on our calendar.
About Seventh-day Adventists
Adventists believe a Trinity of three persons--the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit--make up one God. They made salvation possible when Jesus, the Son, came to earth as a baby in Bethlehem and lived a sinless life in accordance with the Father's will. When Jesus was crucified for the sins of the people of the world and arose from the dead on the third day, victory was won for everyone.
